White Lodging has partnered with Purdue University to develop a new training program called LAUNCH, which will prepare students for careers in the hospitality industry.
The Merrillville-based company that develops and operates hotels across the country recently renovated the 182-room Union Club Hotel on Purdue University s main campus in West Lafayette. It will serve as an immersive lab that will give students paid real-world experience with Purdueâs School of Hospitality and Tourism Managementâs curriculum.
âWe are serious about building the future leaders of our industry and designed LAUNCH to be a competitive, world-class opportunity,â said Ken Barrett, president of White Lodging. âLAUNCH participants will achieve the critical skills and training â complementing Purdueâs School of Hospitality and Tourism Managementâs globally recognized curriculum â to secure the best possible careers after graduation.â
If you could go back one year, what would you have done differently?
If I could go back one year, I would be sure to tell my students how much I love them and show them how strong and smart they are. One of the biggest struggles last spring was how lonely and isolated my first-graders felt. They were scared of COVID, but I think even more so they missed their friends and teachers. They really need that personal human interaction to thrive and during those last few months of school they were deprived of that.

Alfalfa: Compared to the last report Feb. 4: Hay trade remains slow, with Arctic temperatures and heavy snowfall over the trade area has hampered movement. No trades of ground alfalfa yet demand remains moderate to good as most feed yards and dairies seem to be current as of now. Demand remains moderate for farmers and ranchers.
